Information for parents:

As summer approaches, we know that many of you are considering what types of activities and programs you’d like your children to be involved in.   Our summer program will be full of fun, wholesome and enriching activities for your K – 8th grader!  Here’s what you need to know…

When does it happen?  Our 2006 Summer Program will run Mondays through Thursdays from June 12th to August 18th, with July 3rd & 4th off for the holiday weekend.  The program’s hours are from 12:00pm to 5:30pm, with a daily lunch and a healthy snack being provided to everyone.  We work seamlessly with the district's summer school programs - in fact, your youth may even be able to take the bus directly from summer school to our program!

The program is open to all youth, from those entering kindergarten in the fall to those entering eighth grade.  The program for elementary-aged youth will be hosted at St. John the Baptist Church in New Brighton; middle school youth will be hosted at Christ the King Lutheran Church, also in New Brighton.  Transportation to and from program will be available for those who need it.

Wondering what we’ll be doing?  If you’ve had a child in one of our programs in the past, you’ll see a lot of similarities.  We’ll be spending two days on-site, while the other two are off-site.  Off-site activities include a weekly trip to Long Lake Regional Park for swimming and fun in the sun, and an additional weekly field trip to someplace around the metro.  For example, we’re currently working on trips to the Minnesota Zoo, the Science Museum, Feeding Children International and a water park or two.  Our on-site activities include all kinds of age-appropriate games and learning adventures, including classes in arts, crafts, cooking, sculpture and so much more.  Many of our on-site activities are suggested by your youth themselves, so you can rest assured they’re going to have a great time!

But how much is it? We understand how expensive summer programs can be, so we work hard to make sure we can keep our costs low.  There is a $15/family registration fee, and program fees start at just $70/week for early registrants.  Transportation is available to and from the program for an additional $10/week fee for those who live inside the 55112 area; this is an optional service for those who require it.  Transportation will also be available for those outside the 55112 area; however, different fees will apply as we generally cannot bus those youth.  There are also scholarships and a sliding scale which can be accessed by those with financial concerns.  Our fee includes the costs of meals, beverages, snacks, all our field trips and transportation to and from field trips.  If you feel you cannot afford the fee(s) but are interested in registering your youth, please give Jennifer or Mary a call.  Often, we can make financial arrangements that will fit your personal needs.

It is not necessary to attend every day to be part of our program; however, if you are planning for an extended vacation over the summer, we do ask that you let us know at the time that you register.  If you do not make advance arrangements, we will charge you the full fee for the days your child misses.

How do I register my youth?  If you’d like to take part in our summer activities, please click here to go to our registration form.  You may print this form from your computer, fill it out and fax it back to us with your credit card payment information or mail it to us with a check or money order.  Please note that registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please call us with any questions!
