Parent Advisory Council Meeting In February, the kids also enjoyed learning about various African Americans that made an impact on our country. In celebration of Rosa Parks, the youth took part in a trivia game that honored her life and achievements. Our Youth Advisory Council also sponsored a week when all the officers in the Council planned and organized activities. The youth especially enjoyed the dance contest, basketball gam, and the field trip to the Northtown Mall. Way to go Youth Advisory Council! And many thanks to the staff for giving them such a great opportunity. We've been keeping the elementary youth really busy the last couple of months with a variety of interesting things. Many of the youth have had the chance to enjoy weekly trips to the library to check out books, learning to garden (we grew some plants inside) and creating unusual artwork...with broccoli. Some of the youth also had the chance to learn a little more about science by making rock candy and playing "science Jeopardy" for prizes! During Black History month, we also made paper plate peace doves and friendship bracelets. The African bean bag toss, jazz musical chairs and the underground railroad relay were also very popular with this enthusiastic bunch! Kao Yang Hometown: Massachusetts Kao is our most seasoned youth worker, having been a part of CPY for over two and a half years. Since his start, he has been a versatile team member, working at our elementary programs as well as with our middle school program and even Teen Night. During his free time, Kao enjoys hitting the slopes with his snowbord, playing basketball and soccer, and hanging out with family and friends. We've also noted that he has an unusual addiction to ebay... Thanks, Kao, for all your hard work and all you do on behalf
of the kids.
