Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals

Academic Excellence
Tutor/Mentor:

This portion of our program aims to support youth in increasing school attendance and improving grades.  You’ll be paired with one to three youth to help them fg with their homework and then mentor him/her during recreational time in our computer lab, youth room or gym.  Youth “bank” points for completed homework, having a positive attitude, etc., in a personal “checkbook” and can use the points to purchase items in our store.

Hours:       Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 5:30pm (varies by location)
Locations: Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Brighton
                  Bel-Air Elementary School
Others may be included; call for more information.

After-School Leader:
df Do you have a special talent or interest you’d like to share?  Why not facilitate an after-school club?  Volunteers plan and lead all the activities while we provide supplies and support.  Some example ideas: drill team, chess club, drama group, art workshop, special clinic, etc.

Hours:       Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 5:30pm (times are flexible)
Locations: Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Brighton
                  Bel-Air Elementary School

Floating Volunteer:
Not really sure how you’d like to help out, or just want to serve where the need is greatest?  Come be our extra pair of hands!  We often need people who can help with snack preparation, act as a coach or simply spend some time with the kids.  Why not join us?

Hours:       Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 5:30pm (times are flexible)
Locations: Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Brighton
                  Bel-Air Elementary School

Donations Volunteer:
Get school supplies and games for CPY's youth programs by asking companies to do a drive or contacting local businesses and stores for donations.

Hours:       As your schedule allows.

Behind the Scenes:
CPY always has a variety of tasks that need to be performed in the office, whether it’s folding newsletters, making copies or updating our database.

Hours:       As your schedule allows.
Location:  Christ the King Church, New Brighton

Create a One-Time Event for Kids:
Organize a one-time activity, provide entertainment or give a tour around your office or school during our standard program hours.
