Our
Board
of Directors
No non-profit can exist and function well without the help and
support of a dedicated Board of Directors. Here at Community
Partners with
Youth, we think we have some of the very finest Board members an
organization can have. We invite you to read on and get to know
our hard-working team a little better…
Sheryl Stone, Board Chair
Manager, Finance Branch, Accounting Service Center, United States
Postal Service
Sheryl has been very busy in the last year – she began both her current
position with the Postal Service and our Board just a short time
ago!
Sheryl says she believes a community should ensure that its children
are
given every opportunity to become a valued and contributing person of
society,
and that CPY encourages children by giving them a caring environment
where
they may be exposed to a variety of learning opportunities. In
her
“spare” time, Sheryl loves to travel (especially to Europe!), gardening
and preparing gourmet meals when she is entertaining.
Robert Benke, Board
Vice-Chair
Principal, Community Resource Partnerships
A civil engineer by profession, Bob is also the former Mayor of New
Brighton and retired from the MN Dept. of Transportation in September,
2000. Bob has been on our Board for about three years and says
his interest was sparked when it became apparent that there were needs
within the city for our programs. He says he was delighted to be
able to work with other organizations and members of the community to
assemble the resources and support needed to launch our venture.
In his spare time, Bob says
he like to sing in his church choir, golf, read and spend time with his
family.
Nancy Joas, Treasurer
Guardian ad litem,
Hennepin County
Jan Wiessner, Secretary
Ramsey County Commissioner
Matt Fulton
New Brighton City Manager
Verlene Grant
Independent Consultant, Verolinc
Debra Pridgen
Director of Community Relations, Girl Scout Council of
America, St. Croix Valley
Char Samuelson
State Representative
Tad Gates, former Board member
Semi-retired
We are delighted that Tad, who joined our organization in our second
year of operation, is still available for consultation, advice and
volunteer
accounting work! Tad, who served as a Board officer, has remained
very active with our organization although his term as Board member
expired
in 2002. He says he has always enjoyed work that concerns youth
and
our program seemed like a great opportunity with a different
emphasis.
We are grateful he has remained part of our Board “team”.
Thank you to all our hard-working
Board members and volunteers!
